我 為 汝 略 說，
Ngã vị nhữ lược thuyết，
Whoever sees his face or learns about him,
聞 名 及 見 身，
Văn danh cập kiến thân，
Who can hold this Bodhisattva’s name,
心 念 不 空 過，
Tâm niệm bất không quá，
Will leave behind the sorrows of existence,
能 滅 諸 有 苦。
Năng diệt chư hữu khổ。
And so this cultivation’s not in vain!
假 使 興 害 意，
Giả sử hưng hại ý，
Should you be pushed into a raging fire,
推 落 大 火 坑，
Thôi lạc đại hỏa khanh，
By enemies so harmful, mean, and cruel,
念 彼 觀 音 力，
Niệm bỉ Quán Âm lực，
Evoke the strength of Guanyin Bodhisattva
火 坑 變 成 池。
Hỏa khanh biến thành trì。
The blaze will turn into a limpid pool.
或 漂 流 巨 海，
Hoặc phiêu lưu cự hải，
If cast adrift upon the mighty ocean,
龍 魚 諸 鬼 難，
Long ngư chư quỷ nạn，
Where dragons, ghosts, and sharks in turn surround,
念 彼 觀 音 力，
Niệm bỉ Quán Âm lực，
Evoke the strength of Guanyin Bodhisattva,
波 浪 不 能 沒。
Ba lãng bất năng một。
You’ll float atop the waves and will not drown.
或 在 須 彌 峰，
Hoặc tại tu di phong，
Suppose an evil person pushed you headlong,
為 人 所 推 墮，
Vi nhân sở thôi đọa，
From atop the peak called Wondrous Tall,
念 彼 觀 音 力，
Niệm bỉ Quán Âm lực，
Evoke the strength of Guanyin Bodhisattva,
如 日 虛 空 住。
Như nhật hư không trụ。
And like the sun in space you will not fall.
或 被 惡 人 逐，
Hoặc bị ác nhân trục，
Perhaps you tumble down from Vajra Mountain,
墮 落 金 剛 山，
Đọa lạc kim cang sơn，
Fleeing wicked ruffians who pursue,
念 彼 觀 音 力，
Niệm bỉ Quán Âm lực，
Evoke the strength of Guanyin Bodhisattva,
不 能 損 一 毛。
Bất năng tổn nhất mao。
And not the slightest harm will come to you.
或 值 怨 賊 繞，
Hoặc trị oán tặc nhiễu，
Surrounded by a mob of heartless bandits,
各 執 刀 加 害，
Các chấp đao gia hại，
Their weapons drawn, with murder on their minds,
念 彼 觀 音 力，
Niệm bỉ Quán Âm lực，
Evoke the strength of Guanyin Bodhisattva,
咸 即 起 慈 心。
Hàm tức khởi từ tâm。
Their evil hearts will soften and turn kind.
或 遭 王 難 苦，
Hoặc tao vương nạn khổ，
If you are on the verge of execution,
臨 刑 欲 壽 終，
Lâm hình dục thọ chung，
Sentenced by the State, condemned to die,
念 彼 觀 音 力，
Niệm bỉ Quán Âm lực，
Evoke the strength of Guanyin Bodhisattva,
刀 尋 段 段 壞。
Đao tầm đoạn đoạn hoại。
The sword will break to pieces just in time.
或 囚 禁 枷 鎖，
Hoặc tù cấm già tỏa，
If bound and chained, restrained by ropes and shackles,
手 足 被 杻 械，
Thủ túc bị nữu giới，
With hands and feet confined in stocks and gyves,
念 彼 觀 音 力，
Niệm bỉ Quán Âm lực，
Evoke the strength of Guanyin Bodhisattva,
釋 然 得 解 脫。
Thích nhiên đắc giải thoát。
The fetters by themselves will fall aside.
咒 詛 諸 毒 藥，
Chú trớ chư độc dược，
Hexes, poison, magic spells, and voodoo,
所 欲 害 身 者，
Sở dục hại thân giả，
Cast by those who plot to do you in,
念 彼 觀 音 力，
Niệm bỉ Quán Âm lực，
When you invoke the power of Guanshiyin,
還 著 於 本 人。
Hoàn trước ư bổn nhân。
Return to curse the sorcerer who sent them.
或 遇 惡 羅 剎，
Hoặc ngộ ác la sát，
If you meet with evil raksasas,
毒 龍 諸 鬼 等，
Độc long chư quỷ đẳng，
Lethal dragons, ghosts, and vicious beasts,
念 彼 觀 音 力，
Niệm bỉ Quán Âm lực，
Evoke the strength of Guanyin Bodhisattva,
時 悉 不 敢 害。
Thời tất bất cảm hại。
None will dare to harm you in the least.
